John_Lefkowits24Dr. John Lefkowits received his doctorate in psychology from George Mason University in 1993 and became licensed as a psychologist later that same year in Maryland. John Lefkowits, Ph.D. ABPP, is a board certified clinical psychologist with a specialty in forensic work. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Psychologists and is a member in good standing in multiple local and national professional organizations.

Dr. Lefkowits was a founding board member of the Howard County Collaborative Practice Group and served as a Co-President of the Collaborative Divorce Association in Rockville, Maryland. Dr. Lefkowits frequently gives talks to professional groups on topics related to divorce, ethics and psychological assessment. Recent talks addressed topics such as alienation, alternatives to traditional custody evaluations, relocation and divorce and domestic violence. Dr. Lefkowits has written articles for the Maryland Psychologist and has been interviewed for local cable television programs.

In addition, Dr. Lefkowits has frequently served as an expert witness and psychological evaluator as well as being a court appointed custody evaluator in multiple cases. Dr. Lefkowits has developed a unique service called Forensic Divorce Coaching which assists individuals during high conflict divorces. He will be offering training in this method to other mental health professionals in the near future. Additionally, Dr. Lefkowits is founder and CEO of Split Advisor, a new web site designed to assist couples through the process of separation and divorce.

Over the years, Dr. Lefkowits has assisted many couples in crisis avoid divorce and establish healthier relationships. He has also made a significant differences in the lives of individual clients struggling with stressful life circumstances. Earlier in his career, Dr. Lefkowits supervised doctoral psychology student and psychiatry residents during their training as a volunteer faculty member for multiple Universities.
